From a very early age I have taken a keen interest in the exploration of the natural world. I remember carrying around a magnifying glass everywhere I went. I would closely follow bugs going about their business and inspect unique rocks I came across along the way.
Some of my earliest memories include walking around my neighborhood searching for rocks with a unique color, size or texture. I had a small metal box where I kept the most unique and interesting. I have retained my sense of wonder and amazement with the natural world. Now I hope to become a professionally trained biochemist and study molecular pathways involved in disease and development.
Do you still have your rock collection? I did the same, though often without a magnifying glass. We cracked open rocks to find the “sparkly” ones. (I had no clue about safety glasses back then!)
